Our firm boasts one of the strongest Enfranchisement Departments in the South of England and is proud to have at its head Jeremy Donegan who is recognised as one of only a handful of solicitors in the South who can truly be said to be an expert in this area of Law.
Leasehold Enfranchisement is simply the technical name given to the process by which tenants can, in certain circumstances, purchase their freehold or acquire a new lease (often called a ‘lease extension’) from their landlords. Our Enfranchisement Department has helped countless tenants and Residents Associations to acquire their freeholds and obtain lease extensions across Brighton & Hove and the South of England, ranging from small 2-flat building to blocks containing over 100 flats. In addition we deal with applications to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, where the purchase price or any other aspect of the process cannot be agreed. We have also acted on a number of appeals to the Lands Tribunal too.
In our Enfranchisement Department we also have two members of LEASE (the Leasehold Advisory Service) in Jeremy Donegan and Paul Barnes, who additionally advise the Brighton & Hove District Leaseholders Association on a voluntary basis on all areas of Leasehold Enfranchisement.
Our Enfranchisement Department will always be happy to send a representative along to a meeting of your Residents Association at your home to discuss your potential enfranchisement or lease extensions and offer you the benefit of our experience and the close ties we enjoy with local surveyors.
